1. Adsorption and bridging effect
Anionic polyacrylamide can form hydrogen bonds with suspended particles in water, making it an excellent flocculant. When the anionic polyacrylamide is in full contact with the suspended particles, the polar groups on its molecular chain can adsorb with the suspended particles to form larger flocs. These flocs are easy to settle in the subsequent treatment process, thus achieving decolourisation.
2. Electrical neutralisation
Anionic polyacrylamide can also achieve decolourisation by electrical neutralisation. When anionic polyacrylamide and positively charged suspended particles in contact, the anionic groups on the molecular chain can be suspended particles and the occurrence of electrical neutralization, so that the surface charge of the suspended particles to reduce the stability of water, resulting in the formation of larger flocs, to achieve decolorization.
