Polyaluminium chloride coagulant, a cationic inorganic polymeric flocculant, is primarily used for the purification of drinking water and industrial water supply, as well as the treatment of industrial wastewater. With strong adaptability,
polyaluminium chloride can be applied to the treatment of various industrial wastewaters. In the context of highly centralized modern large-scale industries, the wastewater discharged from industrial production, especially heavy metal wastewater, is increasingly polluting the surrounding environment. Heavy metal pollution refers to the discharge of industrial wastewater containing heavy metals into rivers and seas, which will directly have a serious impact on fisheries and agriculture, while also directly or indirectly endangering human health. Today, the manufacturer of plate and frame polyaluminium chloride will introduce the use of
polyaluminium chloride to remove heavy metals from water. Heavy metal wastewater mainly comes from the wastewater discharged by enterprises in mining, smelting, electrolysis, electroplating, pesticide, pharmaceutical, paint, pigment, and other industries. Wastewater from mining processes, particularly from metal ore extraction, mainly contains suspended solids and acids, typically one or several metals, and non-metals such as calcium, iron, manganese, lead, copper, etc. Wastewater from the ironmaking process, primarily from the washing of blast furnace gas, contains a large amount of suspended solids. Its main components are iron, zinc, silicon, and other chlorides. Steel rolling acid pickling in steel enterprises, especially acid pickling for descaling stainless steel surfaces, can also produce wastewater containing iron, zinc, lead, and other metals.

Wastewater from metal processing mainly consists of acidic waste liquid generated during metal surface cleaning and rust removal. Metal materials are often pickled with sulfuric acid and hydrochloric acid, while stainless steel requires a mixed acid pickling with nitric acid and hydrofluoric acid. After pickling, the steel needs to be rinsed with clean water, producing acidic rinsing wastewater. Generally, the remaining waste liquid after rinsing contains about 7% acid, which includes a large amount of dissolved iron. The pH value of the rinsing water is 1-2. If the acidic waste liquid and rinsing water are discharged without treatment, they will inevitably cause serious pollution. Wastewater from the electroplating process mainly comes from the rinsing of plated parts, with a small amount of process waste liquid discharged as well. The quality of electroplating wastewater varies depending on the type of plating and the electroplating process. Generally speaking, the metals in electroplating wastewater are relatively simple. Although the amount of water is small, its concentration is often high and highly toxic, mainly containing acids and metal ions such as copper, chromium, zinc, and cadmium. The removal of heavy metals from water using
polyaluminium chloride (PAC) primarily relies on reacting with salts present in the water to form large precipitable substances, thereby achieving water purification. Some of the heavy metal salts dissolved in water are inert and may not necessarily react with PAC. Therefore, while PAC can remove some heavy metals from water, it is absolutely not advisable to rely solely on PAC for complete removal. To effectively remove heavy metals from water, it is necessary to select appropriate chemicals based on the content and type of heavy metals in the water to achieve the desired effect. Heavy metals are permanent pollutants. For heavy metal wastewater, proper treatment is essential. Firstly, efforts should be made to reduce the amount of wastewater and recover useful metals as much as possible. After proper treatment, the wastewater should be recycled to minimize or avoid discharges. For wastewater that must be discharged, purification treatment should be carried out to meet emission standards. Sludge and concentrated liquids produced, if not recyclable, should also undergo harmless treatment to prevent secondary pollution.
