In a coal washing plant, polyacrylamide can be used for sedimentation of coal washing wastewater and dewatering of coal washing sludge. Coal washing is to separate coal and impurities by adding flotation agent. After flotation of clean coal, the tailings are filtered through sedimentation and concentration to obtain clean coal in the tailings. In the sedimentation process of coal washing wastewater, the sedimentation rate of tail coal is accelerated by the mechanism of flocculation and electric neutralization of polyacrylamide, so that the clean water is quickly reused, and the sludge enters the pressure filtration system for dewatering treatment. So what should be paid attention to in the selection of polyacrylamide for coal washing wastewater treatment ? First of all, it should be preliminarily selected according to the nature, fineness, PH and charge distribution of coal. Generally, anionic polyacrylamide is preferred because of its long molecular chain, and more medium-fine coal slime can be captured under the same dosage, which is more cost-effective. Secondly, non-ionic polyacrylamide is selected. Because of the low degree of hydrolysis of non-ionic polyacrylamide, it can adapt to most coal quality in coal washing water treatment. Generally, it will not change the treatment effect due to the change of coal washing, such as slow sedimentation speed and high turbidity of effluent. But the increase is relatively large. When the coal water is weakly acidic, cationic polyacrylamide with low ionic degree is selected. In addition, because of coal fineness and clay viscosity problems, polyacrylamide sometimes needs to be used in conjunction with inorganic coagulants, including polyaluminum chloride, polyaluminum sulfate, polyferric sulfate, aluminum chloride, etc.
